HISTORY
Egypt has one of the longest Histories of any Country. Considered the Cradle of Civilization along the Nile, its heritage dates to 6th– 4th millennia BCE. It is an important center of Early Christianity, adopted Islam in the 7th Century, and has the largest Coptic Christian Community in the Arab World. The Third most populated country in Africa, Egypt ranks as the 14th most populated country in the World. Kemet was one of the names given to Egypt by its Ancient indigenous inhabitants.
Nubia is both a place and a Black African Culture that had enormous influence and power in Egypt. It is the arid region of southern Egypt and northern Sudan. The people have medium brown skin. The Nubian influence in Egypt is pervasive. The Nubian Kingdom was called Ta-Seti, “the Land of the Bow”. Its symbols were the Crown and Falcon Motif adopted by the Pharaohs. The concept of the Pharaoh as an earthly God so fundamental to Egyptian Power and Civilization was inspired by the Nubians.
For almost one century, Nubian Kings ruled Egypt in the 25th Dynasty. In 747 BC the Nubian King Piankhi seized the Ancient Egyptian Capital of Memphis and united Egypt and Nubia. Abu Simbel is a striking monument to Nubian influence on Egyptian Society. During their rule they fostered Art and built Grand Temples. Their rule ended in 656 BC with the Conquest of Egypt by Assyrian Armies. In the 6th Century AD Nubia converted to Christianity. The old Nubian Church followed Coptic Christianity. It is the longest lasting Christian Kingdom in Africa.
No trip to Egypt would be complete without a visit to the Red Sea. The Egyptian Red Sea Coast has been inhabited since Antiquity. Originally founded as a Roman Military fort @ 309 BC it was transformed into a Christian Community in 400 AD. Hurghada, established as a fishing village in 1909, is nestled between the Eastern Sahara Desert and the Red Sea. The modern city boasts the Mosque of El Mina Masjid, the Coptic Cathedral of Saint Shenouda, and the Hurghada Grand Aquarium. The Red Sea is known for its White Sand Beaches, Coral Reefs, Watersports, Nightlife, and Mild Climate.
